ButtonBass Dubstep Piano is a unique virtual musical instrument developed by ButtonBass. Though it resembles a piano, when the keys are pressed, it plays beats and sounds specific to dubstep. Some might consider it to be rather similar to the more famous Launchpads by Ableton, as it can be operated in a pretty alike manner: press a key/button and a beat starts being played in a loop. Only the look differs as this instrument looks like a classical piano, though it clearly doesn’t sound like one.
You can press certain keys to play specific beats and sounds, all at the same time, and mix them in order to generate new, original, cool tracks. As the name of the program clearly suggests, this application will generate and play beats and sounds that are specific to the Dubstep electronic music genre. As you can deduce, ButtonBass Dubstep Piano is really easy to use. Even complete beginners can handle it without any problem.
I also like the fact that it lets you save your mixes for later use. The key combinations will be saved to text file that you can later re-load and re-play using the program.
As with almost all the other applications from ButtonBass, the only disadvantages of this program are the facts that it needs Adobe AIR in order to be used, and the fact that the beats are not customizable: you can only use the existing, already-provided ones, you cannot add new ones.
Anyway, ButtonBass Dubstep Piano is a really interesting tool and I recommend to any music fan, especially new artists, to try it at least once.
